Cold and Flu Season
"How can I avoid getting sick?"
*wash hands often with warm soapy water-15-20 seconds
*exercise regularly-a strong body is better able to fight off the FLU
*eat healthy foods-keeps our bodies strong on the inside
*get plenty of rest -sleep helps us to "re-charge"
*cover your mouth when you sneeze and cough -avoids spreading germs
*don't touch your eyes, nose or mouth -helps keep viruses out
*stay away from people that are sick
"What do I do if I get sick?"

*if you have a fever over 100 degrees, stay home until your fever, diarrhea or vomiting is gone for 24 hours! (St. Luke School Policy)
FORMS:
The Clinic Card* and Emergency Medical Authorization* form needs to be turned in as soon as possible.
This information is important for the clinic nurses to be able to contact you in the event of an illness or injury. Also, please be sure to list all medications that your child is taking even if they will not be taking them at school.
*These forms are available in the school office and can be sent home with your child if needed.
MEDICATION:
If your child needs to take medication while at school a "Medication Permission Form" needs to be filled out and signed by the parent and physician. This applies to ALL medication. The medication will then need to be dropped off in the clinic or school office by a parent/guardian. Please do not send medication to school with your child.
This form can be found on the "FORMS" tab at the top of this screen or in the school office.
IMMUNIZATIONS:
All immunizations are due at the beginning of the school year. Thank you !

Some Facts Concerning Head Lice:
Head lice are transmitted via close contact such as sharing hats, scarves, head/hair bands, combs/brushes, pillows/blankets or prolonged head to head contact. Head lice like to live in clean hair-it helps them to attach better.
Head lice are NOT transmitted by sitting next to someone who has lice.
Head lice do not jump from person to person.
What do you do if your child gets head lice?
Your child will need to be treated with a medicated over the counter or prescription shampoo specifically geared toward killing the lice. Also, they will need to have their hair combed thoroughly with a lice comb to ensure that all of the lice have been removed.
After treatment the child is able to return to school. Also, please be sure to notify the school nurse. All information will be kept confidential.

Concussions
If your child sustains a concussion ANYTIME during the school year, please make sure to send a note in to the school stating the length of time that your child will need to refrain from gym, recess or sports. We will also need a note when the doctor feels that it is okay for your child to return to these activities. Thank you!
